A work of this nature involves a great deal of research. Therefore I wish to thank Mr Jorge Forjaz, genealogist and esteemed author of Familias Macaenses, who laboured over many years to produce a genealogy of all our Macanese people, whose work has assisted us greatly in our research into our family history.

Many people within the Macanese community have been extremely helpful in providing us with information. Thanks to Anthony Fernandes (USA) and Lorna Fernandes (Perth, Australia) for their assistance with the Fernandes family, Diana Crestejo and the late Patty Runyan (Los Angeles, CA) for their assistance with the Nogueira-Mendes family, Marcus Rodrigues Jr (Sydney, Australia) for contributing his two-year work on his family tree (Castro-Rodrigues family); Ken Harper (USA) for his contribution to the Soares-Ribeiro and Remedios families; Annette Gross and Rosemary Bauer (USA) - da Luz family, Pat Cruz dos Santos (Australia) - Vieira-Ribeiro family on my mother's side; and the children of the late George Blore (Sydney, Australia) - Blore family, only to name a few but our heartfelt thanks go to all those worldwide who have assisted us in this treasured work.

Three very special people were involved in this journey into our heritage to which we owe a wealth of loving gratitude and these are our aunties: Millie Brown who helped us wade through the mire of literature and research; Dorothy Stewart who offered us her unique perspective and brilliant memories; and Yvonne Rozario for her assistance, kindness, patience and love.

This work is not intended as a strict genealogy, but more as a family record with stories that my father wanted told - in short, a photographic remembrance.
